New help for press people

We're adding to the things we can do - free - for people in the press.

We want to help as much as we can without adding any burdens. Here are some ideas from us; feel free to make other requests. There's no charge for any of this.

Info, products, contacts
Get to us early (as if there is such a thing as early) with some definition on your segment and what would be helpful to have in hand to do it. We have or can quickly find contacts at most consumer tech companies. We can get you products quickly, sometimes within hours. We can also filter it so the solution isn't a bigger choking point than the need.
Marty on camera
We're equipped to shoot clips here (4:3 or 16:9, SD or 720p or 1080i) and ship them to you in a format that's easy for your systems to ingest and without data transfer hassles. We don't have enough bandwidth to feed live segments, but we're looking into how much quality we can squeeze into a stream. On some subjects, a talking head is all we can feed; for others, we have a ton of tech products on hand as props and can get others quickly.
Insert segments
We've been working on upgrades to our space to let us prepare daily or weekly segments that anybody will be allowed to air on a non-exclusive basis. (We know how that works – when the first in a market starts using them, the others won't touch them – but everybody will be allowed to). These will deal with consumer (including business consumer) tech topics and show some relevant products, but we're intending to do these more as how-to and why-to or why-not-to than as the usual showcase of gadgets. Ethical disclosure: involved products may or may not include those from past, present, or prospective sponsoring clients of the Newstips Bulletin, but we are status-agnostic in that regard, and in no case are we charging any company for including any of their products in any of these segments.
We will provide an opening "From the Newstips Bunker" graphic with room for a station bug and for sponsor identification; we expect no share of revenue from any such sponsor placement, but we reserve the right to discontinue providing these segments at any time and for any reason.
We're thinking in terms of a:30 or :60 length; please contact us with advice on which might work best on your air.
FOR NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES
Info, products, photos, contacts, context
As always, you're invited to call on us for any help we can offer in pulling your story together.
Feel free to ask us what we know on a topic – what we believe to be true, what we think may not be – who the players are, what it all really means or why it hasn't happened yet.
From there, call on us to plug you into the people who have elements you'll need; generally, we'll send a short, personal e-mail and contact you so you know what we said and to whom we said it.
We're about dodging burdens, not creating them.
FOR RADIO
Info, contacts, products
We have some resources beyond what the search engines can get you when it comes to that short, tightly focused central point of a story that has to come across in nothing but audio. If we can help you find that for a story you're doing, call on us.
Marty on mike
We can create studio-quality audio both at the desk and in the field. If a Marty Winston comment can help your story, tell us the topic, the length you need and the format you want to get it in. If you can't wait an hour, we can also do it by phone.
